I'll probably get this but with virtually everyone from the "Fall" period either in TNA or refusing to cooperate, this could turn into a Warrior-level hatchet job. Still, the matches look good.

The have loads of old interviews like with bischoff and such. But none of them are very in depth.

Outlaw - yeah, they have the older interviews, but he did turn down doing new interviews for this DVD, specifically noting that he wasn't going to be "part of WWE rewriting history", which is probably a bad sign.

Yeah I know. They also tried to talk to Ted Turner, but he refused too. Its a shame, I've always wanted to hear Turners view on the wars. Pretty surprising that they got Bill Goldberg though!

Just bought and watched this yesterday. It's pretty good, plenty of good matches on it too. WWE was pretty clever to get some of the interviews they did (Bischoff and Hall back in 2002/2003), but there are obviously some people you'd like to hear from (Nash and Russo mainly). They really do trash Kevin Nash in this. Overall it's entertaining, but not much you didn't already know.

That being said, when they are talking about the collapse of WCW and why it all went south, they really could have been talking about the current WWE product. The similarities are scary.

I liked the documentary up until the fall. I really think they didn't cover that well at all. There wasn't a single mention of how bad the buyrates were in late 99 and 2000, or how truly ridicluous the booking became, or why Bischoff was removed in 99. They blame all the bad booking on Russo, and make no mention of all the idiotic things that bischoff did in 98 and 99. They even dedicate a 10 minute segment to the Dennis Rodman appearance, and fail to mention his no shows, and the whole falling asleep during a match thing. That just kinda annoyed me.

That being said I loved Mike Graham trashing Jeff Jarrett:

"He broke 6000 guitars and he never drew a dime! He really thought in his little Tennessee brain that he was gonna be bigger than Hogan!"

I thought it was very good, far better than the death of WCW book which poked fun at the company more than explain why things were going wrong and the Monday night wars dvd which was a pathetic victory dance. The significance of Halloween Havoc '98 getting cut off at the start of the main event never dawned on me until I saw this. I'm glad that they really put Bischoff over this time, perhaps now with hindsight the WWE executive can really see what miracles he worked there I thought the segment at the start about the previous VPs really emphasised it. Of cause they also mentioned Bischoff's short failings that we know to well, failing to push other talent, getting obsessed with the ratings and giving the book to Nash (I've rewatched some old Nitros recently and personally I think the finger poke of doom could have worked if they didn't make Goldberg look so weak, at that time the NWO really had to start losing. The Nitro following the finger poke Goldberg wasn't even on the show, instead he did a back stage segment plotting revenge on Hall when really he should of cleaned house and gone after the title. I also quite controversially believe that the streak ended in the correct way and the correct time!).

I thought they brushed Rusco off as a mistake and his wacky ideas were already covered in the Monday night wars, although David Arquette's title reign was mentioned, I don't think they needed to go in to too much detail, as Flair said the company should have gone a year before it did. The whole invasion angle was skipped, I wonder why! I was quite surprised how at the end they mentioned how weak the current product is without competition. I was even more surprised to hear Goldberg refer to the crusierweights as the best thing on the show! Very Happy

Very highly rated by me, and I'm probably the biggest WCW mark on the forum! If I was a neutral I would put it on par with the rise and fall of ECW.

The fans demanded refunds, it costed them millions and alerted the network to how poorly the company was run.

The Time Warner executives unlike Turner were a bit embarrassed that wrestling was on their network. The AOL executives also felt this way and as the merger of the two in 2000 resulted in serious losses, which are commonplace today in the recession but a rarity during the economic boom of the time. The cut down on the companies losses they got rid of the money draining wcw by selling it cheaply, even though wrestling has historically been able to draw massive ratings and the company was in just as bad a state or even a worse state at the start of the previous decade. Ultimately as soon as Turner merged with Time Warner and the ratings started to fall, WCW's time was up.
