Remember watching a preview for King of the Ring 1995 the night before the pay-per-view. Was my sister's wedding reception and me and a buddy ducked out to watch wrestling. Ah, to be eleven again. All hail King Mabel!

I heard Mabel and Sid are booked for a match for some show in the US soon. Now that'll be an instant classic. How much man-boobage do you think Sid will take before he breaks his leg again?

This PPV went shit the moment they decided that Shawn winning was too predictable.

I hate when they think something is predictable, yet they let Cena win every match.

Even then, why did they have to go with sodding Mabel. It's not like Savio Vega v Diesel would have drawn less buys...

quite why the likes of Luger, 123 Kid, Bulldog, Jeff Jarrett were not involved in KOTR was beyond me

I don't share the beef with Savio Vega's run in the tournament at all, he didn't win and it made a very good introduction for a fairly new character, and what people seem to conveniently forget, at a time when WWF was bereft of talent and popularity, Savio was starting to get fairly over

yes but Luger was a big name, Luger winning as an example would have (even at the time) made more sense than Mabel, the tournament was full of jobbers, yet they had names who weren't on it

It wasn't a good PPV by any means, 1995 was a pretty poor year for WWE matches on PPV wise.

The strangest booked tournament in the history of mankind really... HBK battling to a time limit draw with Kama was bad enough but having Taker lose to Mabel... by pinfall... in the first round... I can't get my head around it. Why did anyone think the idea of having the only three legitimate main eventers (if you count Yokozuna) go out in the first round with only The Roadie making any kind of sense in terms of progression (if only to continue the Jarrett/Roadie storyline).

Does anyone know if the the original plan to have Razor go over and it had to be scrapped or was Savio's booking a straight swap?
