Hello, and to some of you hello again!

This has kind of come out of the Facebook group discussions. I know many of us have kept in touch with other members, and I'm due to become a professional forum mod soon (god and an interminable wait for the training course permitting), so I thought I'd try and reboot smash to both try and recreate the community we had and get myself some practice at the same time.

Why smashlives? Both a play on the old name, smashlife, and the fact that, after almost 5 months of confusion, waiting for updates, lamenting the loss and the like....IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

I'm going to try and recreate the same structure, but I'll miss things, tweak things....please, contribute. be involved. Hopefully as many of the old gang will get on with their old monikers, and as I learn how to work this damn system, I'll be able to tweak things more.

To start with, I'll be modding alone, but eventually there will be others. Please, make my life easy! Cool cheers

Very nicely done mate.

If you need a hand with some of the forum programming, CSS/PHP quirks to make full use of the forum software just let me know. My knowledge with such things has grown with my site which I built in the downtime at www.http://www.thecalum.com.

If you hadn't noticed btw, the private lounge is currently opened to any returning smashers I recognise. If you're ex-smashlife and you don't have access within 24 hours, drop me a line

EDIT: Of course, if you have a different name and don't tell me, then I won't recognise you and you won't get into the private bit. You can have a different name, but if you want in just let me know what name you posted under before

I admit, I have missed the old gang (Even DXSupercool, in a sick and twisted way).

ok, expect a few tweaks in a few days time. after tomorrow I'm only working three days in 13, so a few experiments and changes, including looking into smilies, logos, titles and so on, may be occurring

God I keep putting things off...

And that's one of the reasons why I'm looking into setting up a couple of Mods with permissions to action a few ideas to jazz this place up, plus people for me to bounce ideas off. I've sounded a couple of people out as possibles, but applications are welcome.

Plus, the old-timers amongst you may notice the "custom titles" thread in the Private Lounge. this is based on something from the feedback zone, and I thought it would be worth a go, just to jazz the place up a bit.

plus (just for JK), "The Podium" has been created as a new zone for Politics and current affairs. I've moved the US election thread in there, add as you see fit.

Like for example the answers to the following 3 questions:

1. What was the name of the infamous Smash "stable" relaunched a couple of years back
2. Who ran Predictomania (should be back in 2009 btw, folks...)
3. What was the name of the group that Sweatsock and Showstealer formed to shake things up a few years back?

...Or you could just tell me (or us) who you posted as before...
