Personally I'm glad that Jericho will have a very high profile match at Wrestlemania this year, cause it was very much looking like he wouldn't.

I heard a rumour they may get Flair to represent Rourke in the match which i hope is the route the go with this but i doubt it although if it has to be anyone against a celebrity im glad its Jericho because i think he could make the match enjoyable at least

I'm pretty interested to see the match. I'm fairly certain Rourke could have a pretty good match against Y2J.

Ahh the Mayweather thing last year was good fun and it got quite a few non wrestling fans talking about wrestling, can only be a good if unspectacular thing.

Apparently Rourke may lose some of his Oscar votes because of this (Citing Eddie Murphy's Norbit hurting his chances for Supporting Actor for Dreamgirls).

That's one of the only reasons I wouldn't want this match to happen, really. I really wanna see Rourke win that Oscar.

Should be an interesting angle and match. I don't know how well Rourke would be able to keep up with Y2J, but it should be interesting. Rourke's a tough dude, I imagine, once was a boxer.

The Associated Press issued the following press release this evening saying Mickey Rourke won't be appearing at WrestleMania after all:

Mickey Rourke won't rumble with WWE superstar

HOUSTON (AP) — A spokeswoman for actor Mickey Rourke says he won't be taking his role as a professional wrestler into a real-life ring after all.

Paula Woods told The Associated Press on Wednesday night that Rourke will not wrestle WWE superstar Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 25 in April at Houston's Reliant Stadium.

Woods wrote in an e-mail that the Oscar-nominated actor "will not be participating in Wrestlemania. He is focusing entirely on his acting career."

Rourke portrays professional wrestler Randy the Ram in the acclaimed movie "The Wrestler." He made a surprise announcement about the wrestling event Sunday night on the red carpet before the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles.

Rourke had said he was going to toss Jericho "around the ring like tossed salad."

A good thing....and a bad thing.

On one hand at least he wont be doing the JOB for an actor, something which I feel would kill the momentum he's been building up all year.

However it'll probably mean hes without the 'high profile' match at Mania, I could see him being in the MITB match again, this time winning it, I hope anyway, him or MVP

Damn. I thought it would have been fantastic to use Rourke in an angle.

I can't see it doing much good for Jericho's career. Someone like Kane would be a better opponent.
