Guitar Hero/Rock Band fad
Anybody else starting to get sick of this fad? I was already on the fence at the start of it, but Activision has multiple versions of it's upcoming Guitar Hero to launch in 09' (Best of 90s, individual bands, etc.) and now Konami is jumping in with Rock Revolution and yearly editions of Rock Band is already starting. Not that I don't understand the trend, and when all the instruments/game won't cost more than a week's worth of pay I plan on getting a version, but it seems like it's totally oversaturating the market already...

Re: Guitar Hero/Rock Band fad
I played Guitar Hero 3 quite solidily and consistantly for about 6 months or so when I got it. Not so much now, maybe couple of times a week, playing a couple of songs.
I'd go out and get Rock Band or Guitar Hero:World Tour when that's released, but the price is ridiculous. Am not willing to shell out well over £100 for a game and its peripherals.

Love the games. Not tired of em yet. It helps to be in love with music to really not be tired out by these fast.

I played guitar hero 3 and then rock band for about an hour every day until my xbox broke. In fact I got more playtime out of rock band than I did for GTA4.

They're brilliant games, but the prices are way too high for how cheap and crappy the instruments are. I've had the Rock Band drums and a GH guitar break on me.

I'm hoping GH4 getting released in the UK in a few weeks will speed up RB2 being released so I can make my choice. Been very close to buying RB1, managed to hold off so far though.
No matter which one I choose, the drums will be getting the most usage.

Whats really annoying for me is that no where sells individual guitars for RB, as mine broke leaving me missing RB terribly.

Wow! every major chain store and every game shop sells individual guitars all over the place here. You think about trying ebay at all?

Yeah thats what I'm gonna have to do, but its a little annoying considering the amount of game stores in the city and I still have to order it from ebay.

Holy fuck those are expensive! 50 sterling for one guitar. I might as well just buy the whole rock band set!

Haven't they just started selling spare guitars for Guitar Hero though? Am sure you can use those on Rock Band too?

They've been doing spare guitars since the very first game came out... and yes, they do work on Rock Band.

Re: Guitar Hero/Rock Band fad
Can anyone recommend to me which one is the best to get (Guitar Hero or Rock Band)? I got a Wii over the summer and want to get one or the other, but with them being so pricey I don't want to waste my money on the wrong one! Am currently leaning towards Rock Band because it has the better looking guitar, but what are the main differences?

Re: Guitar Hero/Rock Band fad
At the minute, Rock Band is the only one with the full band accessories. However Guitar Hero World Tour is out next month and that too will have the drums and microphone like Rock Band. Personally, I'd lean more towards Guitar Hero myself. See if any stores anywhere have either set up for demo and have a bash at them.
Also can anyone give me some advice. My flatmate got Rock Band for his PS3 yesterday, and on the box for the instruments, it said compatible with PS2 & PS3. Now, if I were to go out and get Rock Band for my PS2, would I be able to use those drums with that, or would I have to get a seperate set of drums?

I did an article at how many music games only in the Rock Band/Guitar Hero series is being released this year and the tally is currently at 7 with Van Halen being announced for later this year, not counting the retail track pack games and other knockoffs.

Quite similar to the amount of The Sims 2 addons there were. What sort of tosser would get the Ikea fun stuff pack?!
